‘The Umbrella Academy’ Fan Art Workshop with Emmy Raver-Lampman
Netflix hosted a vibrant fan art design workshop over the weekend led by LA-based multidisciplinary artist Laci Jordan in celebration of the last season of The Umbrella Academy. Emmy Raver-Lampman (who plays Allison also known as Number Three) surprised guests at the event and introduced an exclusive featurette that highlighted a behind-the-scenes look of the cast and crew throughout all four seasons. She spoke to the intimate group about how much she loves fan-created art since Season 1 and how important it is to channel creative energies.
The workshop brought a mix of multicultiural artists and creatives from the following organizations: Black Girls in Art Spaces, Pasadena Arts Center, 2 Black Nerds, Prism Comics, PFlag, Queer Asian Social Club.The afternoon was hosted by and featured a performance by drag artist and actor Cleo Pockalipps. Guests were treated to bites curated by LatinX holistic health and herbalist private chef, Camila Casanas of Camila Creates.
Shaped through the lens of The Umbrella Academy, Jordan ushered guests through digital illustration development including color story, line work and character narrative - and inspired the attendees to create their own fan art rooted through the theme of"chosen family". Select images will make their debut at Monday night's LA premiere, Aug 5.
