“5 Towers” on Universal CityWalk Ring in the Holiday Season

by Gladys Rios | November 26, 2012

Universal CityWalk kicked off the merry holiday season last Tuesday, November 20, 2012 with a dynamic tree lighting ceremony that illuminated the state-of-the-art “5 Towers” concert venue with hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights. The event came to life with the help of Santa Claus, Councilmember Tom LaBonge, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, kids from L.A. Family Housing, part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s “Discover A Star” Foundation, and recording artists from the 2012 Hollywood Christmas Parade.

Throughout CityWalk’s holiday festivities, “5 Towers” will radiate with concert performances, a dazzling new, multimedia light display and the illumination of a towering custom-built Christmas tree—the first-of-its-kind in North America—choreographed in unison to a vibrant spectrum of countless shimmering lights glistening throughout the plaza.  Event dates are Nov. 20 to Dec. 31, 2012.

The jubilant tree lighting ceremony featured singing sensations Drake Bell, Pentatonix and Human Nature, among others, who later joined a host of musical acts performing on “5 Towers” for a segment to air as part of The Hollywood Christmas Parade special.
