Eugenio Derbez Returns to Spanish-language Comedy with ‘Y Llegaron de Noche’
ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service, announced that its new original series starring, produced and directed by Eugenio Derbez, Y LLEGARON DE NOCHE (They Came at Night), will premiere on October 4. The first two episodes will be available on the service’s premium plan and a new episode will premiere every Friday. In addition, the first episode will be available on ViX Gratis.
Y LLEGARON DE NOCHE marks Eugenio Derbez’s return to Spanish-language comedy after more than ten years and it is his first original comedy as part of the first-look agreement between 3Pas Studios and ViX.
The ViX original series also stars Yare Santana, Sofia Niño de Rivera, AJ Vaage and Jason Alexander (“Seinfeld”).
Inspired by true events, Y LEGARON DE NOCHE is a workplace comedy about the underdogs who accidentally made the best Dracula movie you’ve never seen—the Spanish version of the 1931 classic. While Bela Lugosi filmed by day, a separate cast and crew arrived at night to shoot the same movie in Spanish, using the same sets, costumes, and a translated script. Working from dusk till dawn, they defied the odds and created a superior version to the original.
The cast includes Diana Bovio, Laura Ferreti, Manuel “El Flaco” Ibañez, Daniel Sosa, John Goodrich, Federico Espejo, Daniel Raymond, Gerardo Velazquez and Fernando Memije.
The series was created and written by Rob Greenberg and Bob Fisher (“The Valet” and “Overboard”). Ben Odell, Eugenio Derbez and Javier Williams are executive producers on behalf of 3Pas Studios. Eugenio Derbez is also the showrunner and pilot director. Jorge Ulloa, Pipe Ybarra and Alessandro Damiani are also directors and the production work of Y LLEGARON DE NOCHE is being handled by Visceral, with Pablo Calasso as executive producer.
