‘Mucho Mucho Amor’ Filmmakers Discuss The Legend of Walter Mercado
When mentioning the name Walter Mercado, to some it may be just that, a name, but to Latinos everywhere, it encompasses much much more. It encompasses a part of your upbringing, a part of your culture no matter where your family hails from. Walter Mercado passed away in late 2019 when he had just wrapped up filming a documentary about his life and career; a film that was honestly long overdue. Filmmakers Cristina Costantini (Science Fair) and Kareem Tabsch (The Last Resort) along with producer Alex Fumero did such a great job in summarizing who Walter was and how much he meant to the Latin culture everywhere. Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado is filled with beautiful moments that relay his upbringing in his native Puerto Rico as well as his career in dance, acting and how he later became the world’s best known astrologer. In it we also learn why Walter disappeared from national TV and how this experience affected him. It’s a documentary that’s filled with emotional moments and nostalgia, and should not be missed.
After its debut on Netflix, Entertainment Affair had the opportunity to participate in a virtual press conference with the producer and directors where we talked about the making of the film and their personal experiences with Walter Mercado himself.
Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado is now streaming on Netflix.
