To showcase the black magic that brings the most gruesome monsters imaginable to life during Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, extreme horror make-up artist Larry Bones and his innovative team joined John Murdy, Halloween Horror Nights Creative Director, for a sneak peek of the most bone-chilling effects planned for this year’s event.

As skilled professionals created the illusions of severed heads, oozing wounds and slashed throats, an additional team of experts showcased other effects employed to craft the many scare-actors featured throughout Halloween Horror Nights.  Costume designers were on hand to distress and customize wardrobe, wig makers teased and twisted locks, and a graphic artist adeptly illustrated original Halloween Horror Nights concept art.

Mazes represented included The Walking Dead: No Safe Haven, based on AMC’s critically-acclaimed, Golden Globe®-nominated and Emmy® Award-winning TV series; Black Sabbath: 13 3D, based on the rock band’s darkest lyrics, Evil Dead: Book of the Dead, inspired by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s chilling remake of the cult classic, and Insidious: Into The Further, a recreation of the most disturbing scenes from the film franchise including the upcoming sequel Insidious: Chapter 2.

Also joining these mazes will be terrifying all-original scare zones based on the popular cult films:  The Purge inspired by Universal Pictures’ summer blockbuster, and Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s Blu-ray™ and Digital debut of Curse of Chucky.
