Yesterday New York Giants player, Victor Cruz and his youth organization, The Victor Cruz Foundation, hosted a special screening of the upcoming Twentieth Century Fox film, EPIC.

The Puerto Rican wide receiver partnered with the film to treat kids from his foundation, Hispanic elementary students from I.S. 228 David A. Boody School in Brooklyn, NY, to a special advance showing of the new animated feature.

"I partnered with EPIC because it has great messaging of being active, the value of teamwork and how anyone can be a hero. It aligns well with my foundation and our mission to help kids be interested in education as much as they are in sports," said Victor Cruz, “I'm so happy to share this film with the kids and that they could be here with me tonight."

The kids from his foundation were thrilled to meet their mentor and shared his excitement about the film. Groups of students eagerly met Cruz, many wearing his jersey and cheering once they saw him. They concluded the evening by watching the movie with Cruz and his family.

From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle between the forces of good, who keep the natural world alive, and the forces of evil, who wish to destroy it. When a teenage girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she teams up with an elite band of warriors and a crew of comical, larger-than-life figures, to save their world…and ours. In addition, Pitbull, Beyoncé Knowles, Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson and Amanda Seyfried each lend their voices for characters in the film.

Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios release EPIC, an animated comedy adventure in 3D, in the US on May 24, 2013.
