Prince Royce Severs Ties with Top Stop Music
Geoffrey Royce Rojas, better known as Latin music singer/songwriter Prince Royce, and his former record label, Top Stop Music, have amicably resolved their outstanding disputes leaving Royce a free agent as both an artist and a writer.
“I am elated to put this dispute behind me so I can concentrate 100% on what I love, which is creating and performing my music. I am thankful to Top Stop for releasing my first two albums and believing in me and I’m looking forward to getting back into the studio soon and sharing my new music with my fans,” expressed Prince Royce. “I'm grateful for the support of my management team and legal counsel who have remained solid and true throughout this difficult time.”
The future looks bright for the artist who, according to Billboard Magazine, is “the most successful new Latin act in recent years”. Royce will now, at the young age of 23, be free to control his own career and future, a rare occurrence in the music industry today.
Top Stop Music filed a suit for breach of contract against Prince Royce on September 14, 2012, which Royce, in turn, answered with counterclaims of his own on October 18, 2012. A hearing between the parties was held last month. Royce was represented in the suit by attorneys Kenneth Freundlich of Freundlich Law and Sean Santini of Santini Law, a litigation team assembled by his attorney Matt Greenberg, of Ritholz Levy Sanders Chidekel & Fields, and his managers, David Sonenberg and William Derella of DAS Communications Ltd.
