Twilight Stars Daniel Cudmore and Charlie Bewley talk 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2'
“Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2” is finally here. The last installment of “The Twilight Saga” hits theaters November 16, but before we say goodbye to the vampires and the werewolves, we had a last chance to sit down and talk with two of the sexy vampires who made this movie one to remember.
Charlie Bewley plays Demetri, a valued member of the Volturi guard. He has black, shoulder-length hair and his eyes are the same as most vampires - red. He has an olive complexion that looks odd combined with the normal vampiric pallor. “I didn’t read the books before getting this role. But after I got it, I read everything about Demetri and I excluded everything else. I didn’t want other’s character’s opinion of Demetri to affect my interpretation,” said Bewley in a very sexy British accent.
Daniel Cudmore plays Felix, another member of the Volturi guard. He has dark hair which is cropped short and his olive complexion looks quite odd combined with the vampiric pallor. He is described as being tall and of similar stature to Emmett Cullen. Felix possesses no gifts. Cudmore admits that he did not read the books prior to getting this role, “It’s not a guy cup of tea, but after I got the job, of course I read them. I needed to do the research in order to understand and to develop my character.”
Having the opportunity to be part of this franchise can change any young actor’s career. For Cudmore, it has opened doors like nothing else, “you still have to convince people that you can do the job, but it gives you that opportunity to walk through the door and try to get that job.” Bewley jokes about it. “Twilight was my first movie,” he says laughing. Then adds, “I have to brag about it”. In a serious tone, Bewley explains, “it gives me the experience that I need to explore my goals. The franchise is like a training wheel”.
After Twilight, Bewley went back to Great Britain to star in the $250,000 budget critically acclaimed movie, “Like Crazy.” When comparing the two films, Bewley explains, “each one was as rewarding as the next. The acting was different. The most memorable moment with “Like Crazy” was going to Sundance [Film Festival]. I arrived in Salt Lake City at 3:00 am, went to the screening in this huge theater and I knew a lot of doors had opened for me.” When asked if he rather work in big franchises or independent movies, he said, “I don’t know. I think I’ll do a franchise again if I get a bigger role next time. With independent movies, you get more complex and interesting characters”.
Before becoming a part of Twilight franchise, Cudmore worked in a different blockbuster production, X-Men. “The only difference is the story. They are very similar productions. They both have a very large fan-based. They are two big monsters of franchises that I was lucky enough to be part of”.
Definitely, Bewley and Cudmore are two actors that we should keep an eye on. It is just a matter of time before they become the two stars they were born to be.
