"Beautiful Creatures" at New York Comic-Con 2012
On Saturday, October 13 several of the cast members and filmmakers of the supernatural love story “Beautiful Creatures,” participated in a series of media events to promote the release of Warner Bros and Alcon Entertainment’s new title opening February 13, 2013.
Just before participating on their very own New York Comic-Con panel, writer-director Richard LaGravenese, producer Broderick Johnson and stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emmy Rossum, Thomas Mann and Zoey Deutch answered some questions at a press conference in which they talked about the storyline, favorite behind-the-scenes moments and adaption of the book. Thomas Mann’s favorite part was playing Emma Thompson’s son, “It was a dream come true,” he mentioned. On adapting the book, Richard LaGravenese stated, “I was looking for a mythological story like this. I wanted to keep it as real and honest as possible and I wanted to attract great actors.”
At the panel more than 3,000 fans were able to see an exclusive clip that provided a glimpse to the “caster” world. Shortly after, Emily Rossum tweeted, “Shared an exclusive clip w #nycc audience. So exclusive even our cast hadn’t seen it yet! So jazzed to see Ridley’s claiming on a big screen.” The clips were well received and gathered big applauses from the audience.
The writers of the Caster Chronicles series, Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl mentioned that it was not hard to give full control of the story to Richard LaGravenese. They had full trust that the Oscar-nominated director (“The Fisher King” and “P.S. I Love You”) would take the integrity and feel of their New York Times bestselling fantasy to the big screen – so far it’s surpassed their expectations, they mentioned.
The first chapter of Beautiful Creatures is available online for free as well.
