Hit and Run: A Comedy That Will Have You Rolling Off Your Seats

by Vanessa Ruiz | August 22, 2012

Hit and Run, a comedy film which promises to have you rolling off your seats. Annie (Kristen Bell) and her boyfriend Charlie (Dax Shepard) leave their small town lives in order for Annie to pursue her dream job in Los Angeles. However, Charlie’s past comes back to haunt him.

Several years ago, Charlie had taken part in a bank robbery and when his partners ended up killing a security guard, Charlie testified against them.  As a result of this, he was placed in the Witness Protection Program and hidden away in the small town of Milton, California. Everything was going well until he decided to move back to Los Angeles to help Annie.

The movie is filled with excitement as Charlie’s gang hunts them down. Also, on the hunt for them is Federal Marshal Randy played by Tom Arnold, who is supposed to protect Charlie.

Entertainment Affair had the exclusive opportunity to attend one of the press events of Hit and Run. Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Tom Arnold and Joy Bryant provided us with insights on how it was working with each other and playing their characters.

Shepard who happens to be the writer, co director, and star of the comedy gives us the details on his upcoming film. Shepard and Bell, who are currently dating, were very excited about the movie and joked around on how it was working as an onscreen and real life couple. “This was not a studio movie, we wanted to work together and wanted something to watch and enjoy because we love each other. It was not calculated and it was a simple decision,” Shepard said.

Bell jokes about how the cars used for the movie belonged to Dax and how he would not allow anyone to touch them. Charlie’s pride and joy is a souped-up 1967 Lincoln Continental. “Dax would not allow anyone to drive his sports car or his Lincoln. He was his own stunt director and had the extra responsibility because he did not want anyone touching his toys.”

Tom Arnold who plays the Federal Marshal protecting Charlie was still recovering his voice from all the yelling that was done in the movie. Tom joked around on how there was tremendous passion behind all the yelling that was done for the movie, however, was definitely worth it.

Another good friend of Shepard, Joy Bryant also ended up in the feature film as Neve. She was excited about being on set because the atmosphere was a lot of fun. “The atmosphere and vibe was a lot of playing which is the best of both worlds. Every day was exciting waking up on set because it was such a fun movie to do. Dax wrote the movie that he wanted to write because he wasn’t worried about script approval and we all happened to be his friends.”

If you want to watch more of the excitement of Dax and his crew, Hit and Run opens today nationwide.
