La Opinion Honors Kiki Melendez with Mujeres Destacadas Award
KIKI MELENDEZ RECEIVES LA’S PREMIERE NEWSPAPER TOP HONOR
AS ONE OF THE “MUJERES DESTACADAS” IN ENTERTAINMENT
FOR HER WORK AS A PIONEER IN COMEDY
Kiki Melendez, a successful actress/producer based in Los Angeles is being recognize and celebrated by LA’s Premiere newspaper, La Opinion, for her accomplishments and contributions as a Latina in Los Angeles.
La Opinion will have a feature story on the exceptional comedian on today’s issue (March 28th). This actress, writer, producer and presenter, is the creator of Hot Tamales Live—an award winning talent show that celebrates diversity in America through performances of comedians. Melendez is also known as a prominent radio personality in the American market.
Named American Latina Pioneer in Entertainment, Kiki was the only female comedienne nominated for the first annual American Latino Awards. She received the Key to Hartford, Connecticut by Mayor Perez making “Cinco De Mayo 2007” Kiki Melendez Day in Hartford. She was also given two Certificates of Appreciation by Mayor Villaraigosa in Los Angeles, California. A Proclamation by the State of New York, and she received the prestigious “MAVERICK AWARD” By the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival. Kiki is truly our generation’s crossover poster child.
