by EAStaff | February 24, 2012

In 2012 Sounds from Spain crashes the SXSW party with seven explosive new acts: Bigott, Furguson, L.A., Za!, Guadalupe Plata, Quique Gonzalez and Vetusta Morla.

Last year Sounds from Spain served up the best paella and post-indie that SXSW has ever seen. This year they´re doing it again, bringing you seven of the best bands and artists on the Spanish music scene at two showcases - Thursday March 15th at the East Tent, Brush Square Park, from 12pm - 4pm, and on Friday March 16th at Red Eye Fly (715 Red River St.) from 7.30pm till late.

This is the only opportunity to catch the much-hyped Bigott, a spontaneous, quirky artist whose good vibes and hilarious film-clips have brought him critical acclaim in Spain. Going beyond post-punk, Furguson don´t hold back on their energetic and experimental melodies, while L.A. pay homage to the Beatles and The Who while creating a uniquely Spanish take on modern pop-rock. For fans of improvisation, the electrifying performance of Za! will be a major highlight, and blues lovers will be blown away by Guadalupe Plata.Quique Gonzalez brings the folk and intimacy loved by Spanish audience to Austin, treating us to traditional Mexican and Spanish tunes and audience requests. Finally,Vetusta Morla´s intense, unconventional rock, which has revolutionised the Spanish indie scene, will once again demonstrate why they have become the most successful indie band on the Spanish peninsular.

To catch the crème de la crème of Spanish indie, register with SXSW and add the Sounds from Spain showcase to your schedule!
