ASCAP to Honor Marc Anthony with the Prestigious Founders Award
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will host its 20th annual Latin Music Awards on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. The black tie gala will honor the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP's most performed songs in Latin Music of 2011.
One of the many highlights of the invitation-only dinner and awards ceremony will be the presentation of the ASCAP Founders Award to singer/songwriter/producer Marc Anthony.
The Founders Award is the most prestigious honor that the organization presents to their members and is given to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. Each recipient is a musical innovator who possesses a unique style of creative genius that will enrich generations to come. Past recipients include: Rod Stewart, Patti Smith, Annie Lenox, Rubén Blades, James Taylor, Neil Young, Garth Brooks, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder among others.
During the awards ceremony, ASCAP will recognize the Songwriter of the Year, Publisher of the Year, Independent Publisher of the Year and Latin Song of the Year. Awards will also be presented in the following categories: Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Urban, and Television.
