Fernando Colunga and Blanca Soto team up for the first time in a charming, lighthearted “rom-com” novela

“Porque el Amor Manda” premieres on the Univision Network on Monday, March 11at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central)

Univision’s newest primetime novela, “Porque el Amor Manda” (Because Love Rules), brings viewers a fresh take on the conventional love story by focusing on a successful female executive who falls for her struggling male secretary. Filled with comedic twists and heartwarming romance, this delightful new Televisa production from one of the most renowned and prolific producers in Spanish-language television, Juan Osorio, pairs internationally famous heartthrob Fernando Colunga (“Amor Real,” “MañanaEs para Siempre,” “Soy Tu Dueña”) with gorgeous leading lady Blanca Soto (who helped catapult Univision Studios’ debut dramatic production “Eva Luna” to unprecedented ratings heights), together on screen for the very first time.

After years of trying to make ends meet in Chicago, Jesús García (Colunga) discovers that he has a daughter from his ex-girlfriend in Monterrey, Mexico. Determined to meet the child, he decides to return home but is tricked into participating in a money laundering scheme for which he is caught and charged with the crime.

Burdened with a criminal record and no income, he sets out on the difficult mission to find work and learns that a high-ranking executive, Alma Montemayor (Soto), is looking for a new secretary. When she hires him on the spot, Jesús and Alma embark on a journey full of hilarious situations and intricate plot twists. While he tries to do the best he can in a traditionally female position, and for which he is not adequately trained, they both find themselves falling deeply in love despite the inconvenient fact that Alma is his boss and lives in a much different world. But they eventually discover that when love rules…there are no rules.
